Our fully Biodegradable Substrate is a lightweight and stabilised substrate which has been designed for the hydroponic cultivation of microgreens, salads and herbs in your outdoor area.
With a clean and soil-free harvest important for food safety, HERMEQ offers a bio-based, eco-friendly alternative to synthetic substrates available on the market. Manufactured from Polylactic Acid (PLA) – a natural fibre to efficiently manage water for excellent growth in a a variety of hydroponic systems with a needle-felt structure designed to offer high aeration at root level.
Each quantity you order comes as one Roll Size and is 1000mm x 50m.
Certified fully compostable to BS EN 1343:2000 being manufactured from PLA (Polylactic Acid extracted from fermented plant sugars).
With a growing number of companies growing microgreens in the last 10 years, these small plants produce up to 40 times more nutrients such as vitamins C, E and K than their mature, fully grown counterparts. Due to their high antioxidant content, they are considered a functional food that promotes health and prevents disease.
Substrate can be used as a growing mat for all types of production such as urban farming, food industries and hobbyists offering a premium growth media able to absorb and retain water while providing an optimal environment to promote rapid germination and plant growth with dense health root development.
Due to the inert fibre of this Substrate – the mat is less prone to bacterial growth and designed to maintain its structural integrity for the entire crop cycle.
